Little Free Library
About
Little Free Library is a nonprofit that builds community, inspires readers, and expands book access for all through a global network of volunteer-led little libraries.
Through Little Free Library book exchanges, millions of books are exchanged each year, profoundly increasing access to books for readers of all ages and backgrounds.
Charter #11516 was originally established in 2013 in honor of Sterling K. Speirn, president and CEO of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation (2005-2013). A prolific reader and poetry lover, Sterling is a model advocate for early childhood literacy and learning. The box was adopted by Willow and faer family on August 13, 2019.
Donate Books
We accept books of most genres, for all ages. Books should be in fairly good condition and with no missing pages.
We do not accept religious or MLM advertising, outdated textbooks, or phone books.
While the library is entirely run on contributions, you don’t have to be in Battle Creek to help. Check the National Map to see if there is a library in your area. You can also order from our wish lists on Amazon and First Book Marketplace. Please include a gift message, so we know who to thank when your order arrives.

During the Coronavirus Pandemic in 2020, the "shelter in place" order resulted in kids being off school and many adults working from home. Our neighborhood wanted a way to keep our residents busy, and also be able to share our favorite books with each other during this crazy time. This library was built by hand with items our neighbors had in their basements and garages in lieu of making unnecessary trips to the store. Truly a group effort!
